Description
L‑Carnitine is a vitamin‑like nutrient made from lysine and methionine that helps move long‑chain fats into mitochondria to be used for energy. It is not a peptide. Clinically, IV/IM L‑carnitine is used to treat true carnitine deficiency (genetic or secondary, e.g., in hemodialysis, valproate‑related issues). Athletes and wellness clinics sometimes use injections off‑label for recovery or fat‑utilization claims. Oral forms include L‑carnitine, L‑carnitine L‑tartrate (LCLT), and acetyl‑L‑carnitine (ALCAR).
